  • Yes, a lump payment in cash is required.

  • When is the deadline for payment?
  • Please pay the total amount upon entry of Gasshuku Menkyo. The exact deadline is stated in the school entrance guidebook, so please refer to this and make the payment on time.

  • You can make split payment before the Gasshuku Menkyo starts. However, it is not allowed to postpone payment until graduation, for example half before entering the school then half after you graduated.

About the lessons

  • What do I need to bring to class?
  • We will prepare the textbooks so you only need to bring writing instruments. If you have dictionaries or any prepared materials, please feel free to bring them as well to help you study better.

  • What should I do if during the lessons there is something I don’t understand?
  • If there is anything you aren’t able to hear or understand, please ask the teacher right away within that very day.

We teach students with great care and respect. We encourage that you should try to solve any problems with the lessons immediately; don’t leave it till the next day.

  • How long will the practical and theoretical classes last until graduation?
  • Theoretical lessons are 26 hours long, and the duration of practical driving lessons are 34 hours and 31 hours for MT cars and AT cars respectively. • For Gasshuku Menkyo, we have a rule for continuous training, so taking a day off is not allowed. However, we will make an exception if you get sick or have a medical problem. In that case, please contact the office of the driving school.

  • I’m not confident in my driving skills.
  • For driving, there are people who learn very fast and there are people who don’t. So believe in yourself and you will be able to graduate.

About transportation to school

  • What is the best way to get to Yamagata Prefecture?
  • Although students may live in many different areas of Japan, we require that you arrive at the driving school before noon of the admission date. People who live far away can take the shinkansen.

After your application is complete, a “school entrance guidebook” will be sent to your home. There will be names of major train stations in the area where you live written in the guidebook. You can use this to see which stations to board and get down as they are all listed in details.

You can use the guidebook to see which stations to board and get down as they are all listed in details.

After you get down at Yamagata Station, our bus will come and pick you up.

  • When should I buy tickets?
  • Please buy tickets for shinkansen, trains or hi-speed buses yourselves. We recommend that you buy tickets a few days in advance.

You can also use your student discount to buy tickets at a lower price. To apply for this, please visit your school’s office.

  • What if I boarded the wrong shinkansen?
  • In these cases, the “school entrance guidebook” says that you must call the driving school immediately. After that, we will give you guidance depending on the lines. The most common mistakes are listed below, so please notice.

If you travel by shinkansen from Kanto Region (Tokyo, Saitama, Chiba, etc), when you arrive at Fukushima Station, please be careful not to mistake Yamagata Line for Sendai Line.

You have to take the Yamagata Line. When you board the shinkansen, there will be no problem if it’s the no.16 or no.17 cars with non-reserved seats in Yamagata Line.

Things to bring

  • What should I do if there are things I forgot to bring?
  • There's a chance you may forget to bring all the things you need, however there are certain things you must not, because without these you might not be allowed to attend classes. There have been some cases in the past when students had to return home to fetch what they forgot. This would cost unwanted expenses for round-trip transportation.

Below are 5 things that you must not forget and should prepare before going to the driving school.

    1. Certificate of residence with individual records
→This document is under the name of the student and must include hometown (nationality), and has to be valid within 3 months since the date of issue. It is forbidden to use documents under the name of your family members.
    2. Your identification
      →Passport for example
    3. Certificate of Alien Registration or Residence Card
    4. Seal
→Shachihata and rubber stamp are not accepted
    5. Glasses, contact lense
      →For people with below-standard vision

Others

  • Can I join the Gassuku Menkyo course if I have a physical disability?
  • We have special classes for people with physical disabilities. In cases like this, it is necessary to receive adequate consultation from Public Safety Committee in advance.

Also, depending on the results of the suitability consultation and health examination, you may or may not be allowed to study.

And finally, please bring the “Tekisei soudan kekka kaitousho” (Suitability Consultation Results Answer Form) on the day of school entry.

  • Are classes still held when it snows in winter?
  • There has never been a day off because of snow. The road in Yamagata prefecture will be completely removed of snow, so there will be mostly no snow on the driving roads.

Also, recently there may be heavy snow in the winter in the Kanto region. This is perhaps a great opportunity to get used to driving on snowy roads if you go to our driving schools during winter or spring break.

  • What should I do if I want to leave school or transfer?
  • Please contact the office to make the necessary procedures. We will return any remaining money you have.

However, the refunds you get from the adjusted tuition fees might be less than you imagine. Please try as hard as you can to graduate.

  • There are things that I must not eat due to religion. Could I get a specially prepared meal?
  • We have the same meals for all students in our driving schools. Therefore, we can not prepare special meals for any individual.

Please talk to the hotel, the inn, the cafeteria, and check yourself whether there are any ingredients you should not eat, so be careful yourself.
